2018 Project Baxter

Meet Baxter.

Baxter wondered into a colony alone looking all scared and skinny, he would’ve been only 3 months old. We don’t know what happened to him but he would’ve had to scavenge for food while fend for himself, just to survive.

He was wary, always in a hiding. As uneasy as his former life was he wasn’t aggressive. Never once did he hiss or try to attack. Definitely the “flight” type with the “fight or flight” reaction.

We had him in our cat room (a small toilet we don’t use), and I sat next to him watched him eat, played with him, or just simply be there at night. A week later he opened up, two weeks later he was on our couch. He looked so beautiful and relaxed he was a different cat.

Another two weeks later his future owner found us. Thanks to today’s technology I see Baxter’s updates on Instagram. When my foster kitties leave I don’t lose a baby, I gain a friend.
